Miltek Exhaust question

Are the Miltek exhasut systems for Blob and Hawkeye compatable with a Classic? Just the back box and centre section. Really like those exhausts and want one for mine as they are not too loud and not really liking the sound of my Jasma.

SpecB 19-09-2014 05:14 PM

As far as I'm aware they are not comparable with any other makers system without modification.

Tyler 19-09-2014 05:16 PM

Damn it, so wont even be able to mount upto another down pipe.. Gutted.. :(

Ginola 19-09-2014 07:32 PM

Unfortunately what BlueBugEye said is my understanding also,
The miltek bits are odd lengths and don't match up with other systems, requiring bits to be welded in or cut out.. :S You need to keep your eyes peeled for a turbo back system. 2.75 or 3" ;)

My Miltek centre section married up to a tsl rear, a prodrive rear and also an un'known decat dowpipe with no issues.

Wonder if the unknown downpipe is a Miltek in disguise :O or if that is giving more or less length to make it all fit :o I have seen one off the 2.75" ones of the car on the floor and bits where different lengths to mine.

It wasn't a miltek. It may of been japspeed. But Si had it off me when I returned the hawk to standard.

A hawk has different lengths to the downpipe and 2nd cat but when the 2 are together they are the same length as a bug/blob equivalent. Therefore the centre will fit either.

So do you think i could get away with fitting a miltek centre section and back box to my classic SilverSurfer? Really want something thats not to Loud but 3" with a decent flow. Plus i love the look of the Milteks

SpecB 20-09-2014 07:23 AM

My understanding always was that the backbox flanges were rotated and the down pipes longer than other systems.

Anger 20-09-2014 07:36 AM

I've had to cut my Buddyclub exhaust down to fit, but my Kakimoto one fitted the downpipe perfectly

The Miltek centre was exactly the same orientation. Mine was a 2.75" and with a bit of adjustment on the gasket it fitted fine to a 2.5" Prodrive or TSL Group 'N'.

Infact I also had it married up to a 3" Haywood & Scott Jap Style, which is now under Ginola's ownership.

So my Miltek fitted :
Prodrive OE Rear Box
TSL Grp'N' Rear Box (which is made by 'Scorpion')
Hayward & Scott Jap Style, angled exit rear box

From my experiences it should be fine, otherwise they would state it and/or not sell them as individual items.
Maybe it was their early complete systems that were different and that they are now all a common fitting.

Answering your question : The centre pipe is probably the only critical factor ensuring you get a classic (I have always been unsure whether classic and newage centres are the same length. But Scorpion list a different P/N for each, so I assume they are different lengths. The picture clearly shows a different style centre hanger)

You would then need to ensure the gasket is a 3" and has it's bolt holes enlarged if you are mating it up to a 2.5" downpipe.

Personally I find MilTek too quiet. Somehwere between a Prodrive and TSL/Hayward and Scott (OE style)

the issue is NOT with Milltek but with new-age to classic fitments.................

new-age centre section is shorter than a classic BUT if you used a complete turbo back then its a bolt-on job

Thanks all, silver surfer you reckon the miltek is too quite? What would you recommend as I am not a fan of the Jasma, but don't want nothing too loud..

Got a Hawkeyes milltek centre and back box on mine with Scott's old japspeed downpipe. Downpipe is slightly too short but was alright when Scott's old h and s back box on.
Earlier newage milltek will be 2.75". I now have milltek downpipe to fit from hawk so that everything should fit nice on my bug.

Nice. Just so annoying... Why can't they be all universal... Well I know why as it's to make money but it's such a pain..

Anger 21-09-2014 11:01 AM

It's about the same as a Miltek Tyler, I have no need for it anymore

Tyler 21-09-2014 10:06 PM
