Headers
Has anyone used japspeed spec 3 headers or is it best to stay away and get a genuine set of gt spec headers ?
|
Stay away and get a set of proper ones, though below 400bhp a set of ported standard headers with a nice Harvey up-pipe is probably crisper to drive

Headers
You could always have a go at porting (gasket matching) your own, make sure you use safety goggles or you could lose an eye!, Use an air powered die grinder, with a tungsten carbide bur tool and then smooth out with some fine grinding bits.
But in all honesty it won't make much difference, not a noticeable difference at least unless you port match the heads themselves, and that is a ball ache, The up pipe however does make a noticeable difference to spool. |
I used a Metal muncher carbide cutter from ebay in a hand drill. A pretty ausome cutter that made the B&q cutter look like a nail file.

Dont bother with cheap manifolds mate, i have tried them and they do not fit properly.. So got some RCM headers.

For manifold only you can probably get them as low as £200 |

I was looking at them they have dropped to 250 but they are wrapped... Need to make sure they are not cracked. Don't forget to look at the Lateral performance headers as well, as they are pretty much exactly the same. |
They have sold, RCM, Lateral and most of the decent tuning stores all import the same "GT Spec 3 bolt headers revision2" no difference between them as far as I'm aware, but there are obviously cheap imitation ones out there.. DONT fit anything from eBay for example.
