Iron x any good?

I'm sorting out an order on polished bliss, updating and replacing some old polishes/sealants in readiness for a ma mouth detailing weekend at some point.

Has anyone tried iron x/GYEON Q2M IRON?

They seem to be pretty effective at cleansing the paint and almost do away with the need for a clay bar, though I will still clay it afterwards.

Sticking to blackfire polish and sealant as I love the way they work on black.

If anyone's used iron x/GYEON it would be good to hear thoughts on it and whether it's worth it.

yes and yes

Lol, cheers Simon, guess that answers that then. :ok:

I've been toying with getting some too ahead of the pre-winter tidy up and protection.

A well timed thread from my perspective as I'll be topping up my supplies shortly too. :ok:

I use it, great stuff

Granby 03-10-2014 01:00 AM

Yes but it does stink a bit

Willowsdad 03-10-2014 06:28 AM

Definitely worth it. You won't believe how much iron is actually stuck to your paint until it turns purple. But stinks is an understatement. Smells that bad that I have I hold my breath or cover my face! I still clay afterwards though. There will still be other contaminants to get rid of.

Thanks everyone, I shall add some to my order. I then just need to find the time to get it sorted. Cant believe i've had it 3 months and not polished it yet.

Took me 18 months to do mine so don't worry too much, I've had the passat nearly 4 years and it's never seen more than a bucket and a sponge, as they say, you can't polish a turd, especially an oil burning, 200'000 mile, pale blue, barge sized one.

Spotted this when browsing... seems the whiff is something they've sought to address!

They still say it's pungent, I've got the cherry one and I'd hate to have cherrys that smelled like that lol

Same the cherry one still stinks ;)

Banstead Stig 04-10-2014 11:12 AM

Haha.

I'll not bother trying to avoid the stench then!

Bumping an old thread, oil change and quick clean down of the underside + clean wheels and re-seal (get the winter salt crap off them before putting the car in its bed.. when you think your wheels are clean, use iron-x on them and think again :O

Wiped down with detailer (they had driven 6miles since the car was washed!), iron-x then finished with poorboys wheel sealant

please excuse the crappy phone photos.

IronX shows you clean is not really clean! as it doesnt turn purple unless its reacting with iron particles. leave for 4 mins then agitate with a brush.

Then finished,

I think its a great product, but 1 bottle will clean your wheels 3 to 4 times max, so its a little expensive.

I bought some to use when changing over from Summer to Winter and that was what I noticed. Very effective, but at the 'per use' cost I it flipping ought to be!

Glad I used it though. :ok:

Bilt Hamber do a good one. Gets good reviews and cheaper than Iron X
