Rear lights

Just a quick question what is the nut size to hold the rear lights on please read online there 8mm brought some and they don't fit thank you

scotty 22-01-2015 03:41 PM

Classic or newage?

rhys_1992 22-01-2015 04:05 PM

Classic

Red Baron 22-01-2015 04:14 PM

Is that 8mm across the flats or M8 thread size?

Generally a M8 nut is 13mm across the flats whereas as a nut that is 8mm across the flats is an M5.

rhys_1992 22-01-2015 05:32 PM

I got m8

I bet your fun conversation up the pub...

Red Baron 22-01-2015 07:26 PM

The joys of putting together tool kits and spares kits for military kit at GDs and having arguments with Martin Pendrey that because it needs 10mm spanner it isn't a M10 bolt.

As for the pub, when are we next going.

rhys_1992 22-01-2015 07:29 PM

I Just looked for a 8mm nut an there to big weren't til u said then about it so checked bag and they where m8 I'm lost lol

Sounds like they're held in with 8mm M5 nuts then, if mine wasn't reversed into the garage I'd go and have a look for you, will try and check tomorrow if I can be arsed to get it out of the garage.

Thank you. Was looking at sets for a scooby but they were expensive for a pack of nuts when any nuts will do the same thing

Right just been out to my classic and check rear light nuts and to clarify the nuts that hold secure bonnet scoop to the bonnet are the same nut and size you are after bud here is a picture of the said nut from my bonnet scoop and check with putting it on the rear lights thread hope that helps .

Their 8mm ring spanner or socket.
Socket is easier due to access on the inner 2.

If your replacing the nuts you will need M5 'flange' nuts.

Check out this item I found on eBay: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...950480&alt=web

I think it's 5 per light cluster

rhys_1992 22-01-2015 10:51 PM

Ordered it's 5 a light but got to buy a side bonnet vent so can use that on that as well got a lot of nuts on order now haha

I get all my stainless nuts and bolts off eBay.
B&Q can go screw themselves......boom. ....boom

scotty 22-01-2015 11:12 PM
