Re: SES MEETING 22nd AUGUST (1.00pm)
Guys and Gals
The prob is that we have really struggled for getting any meet together, i think Ian is getting a central pub type meet together so we can all have a chat about other trips, the Dover one is definatly a go, just need to drum up enough interest. We can hopefully get plenty of us along to this one and go from there. What you all think. We are all open to sugestions, coments etc   |

I am trying to increase the number of people that attend the meetings. 7 people posted saying they thought Dover Castle was a good idea, thats great but out of 270 members its not so good. The support of the regular attendees is obviously is brilliant!! We have recently had new people posting, and a few people from Kent have said that its time we had a meeting in Kent. I have chosen "The Woodman" because it fairly close to the middle of the region and easily accessible from all areas. AS Crowman has said future meetings can be discussed at our next meeting and take things from there. Your comments are always welcome. |

and once again its going nearer surrey/sussex. Thats 2hours from me and the closest meet that has been near me was notcutts and that was a kent scoobies meet not a SES one! The closest SES meet to me was Beachyhead. plus we always have meets on saturdays a lot of people work . a meet on a sunday wouldnt go a miss ! I dont want to cause a argument but southeast scoobies seems to be up surrey/sussex area rather than the rest of the souhteast |
Re: SES MEETING 22nd AUGUST (1.00pm)
I can see what your saying herbert - but this is never going to be an easy thing with the club covering such a large area. Sometimes a fairly long drive might be necessary to go to a meet (but i know everyone here enjoys driving - if you didn't, you wouldn't own a scoob! ;)).
the flip-side to this is consider the opposite end of the region - when was the last time a meet was held towards the West end of Surrey, or West Sussex - think Midhurst, Petworth, Chichester, Haslemere, Farnham etc. As SES, we've never had a meet that way, i guess purely because it makes sense to make it more central to get members coming from both East and West directions. in all honesty, it'll never be possible to please everyone..... anyway, unfortunately i can't make this meet as i'm away, but i'd be there if i could  |

Most people i rekon will go for the closer option of sevenoaks on the sat so this now pretty much rights off dover i suppose. oh well ill wait and see how much interest we get on each event  |
Re: SES MEETING 22nd AUGUST (1.00pm)
Sorry guys can't make this one but if I wasn't 'working' I'd be there - I have an idea for a good meet down my neck of the woods with some nice flowing dual carriageways and a few country lanes along with a good pub with plenty of parking.

Re: SES MEETING 22nd AUGUST (1.00pm)
Without Causing an Riot  is there a way of say working out where members are from and putting them into say 4 groups, and giving each group a meet within a reasonable driving distance of them,as it appears we dont see a lot of the members that SES have at the meets,as its to far for them to travel,as Mark,Damien, and Rich have said, there are no meets closer than nearly 2 hours drive away normaly for them..
So by having a meets divided into say 4 area's we would surely get bigger & hopefully better meets attended by those that at present, have to far to travel to come to the ones we have recently had.. I must say though i have been one of the lucky ones,as the meets where ever they have been are within an hour driving for me,others are not so lucky... I also think that sundays are a more exceptable day for the meets has Lee works most saturdays,so this often counts me out :sadnod: |

I have produced a map with a 'Meet Zone' of 50 mile diameter, based on a central location. This central location takes into account : 1. Most westerly lat/long (approx : Havant/Chichester) 2. Most easterly lat/long (approx : Ramsgate/Margate/Broadstairs) 3. Most northerly lat/long (approx : Thames Esturary) 4. Most southerly lat/long (Beachy Head) The centre point of the 'Zone' ends up being Groombridge (Kent). This meet zone should hopefully pull in the max number of people and the least amount of travel for the majority. We will have event outside this 'Zone' but the monthly's should remain within it. I would of posted it this evening, but forgot to email it home from work. |

But I am sure this will take place, at a later date. Please if you can come to the next meeting as obviously things need to be discused. I feel we need to have a programme in place so that we are not living from month to month. |
Re: SES MEETING 22nd AUGUST (1.00pm)
This is why this meet is so crucial really. Without peoples input Ian is swimming through treacle trying to please everyone.
The meets need input from ALL SES members, without that input we can't give you anything that suits you. I'll stick my scabby arsed beemer down for the meet, why not? Come on guys and gals, without your input it's hard work to give everyone what they want. This is the time to get your point across. 1. BIG"E" 2. Crowman + Crowboy 3. Hongkongphooey 4. Worzel (in his scabby arsed beemer) |

Re: SES MEETING 22nd AUGUST (1.00pm)
I would love to make all the meets but with saturday day time it is a no good for me as i have kids things to do and they do not normally finish till after 1.Then add the time on to get there and most people would be leaveing as i get there. So for me it's not a case of not being bothered to turn up or the distance to travel it's all in the time of the meet. Please do not take this the wrong way i know how hard it is from my time as meet organiser with my bike club and Big E is doing a sterling job.

Re: SES MEETING 22nd AUGUST (1.00pm)
Quote:
The list, from what I recall, for Dover castle was only 7 people. To organise an event/meet at a venue such as this for such a small number is pointless. It is also not the sort of venue where things can be discussed. People would park in the main public car park, in amongst the MPV's, then bugger of into the attraction only to be seen fleetingly while you all walk around. This should be classed more as a 'DAY TRIP' or 'EVENT' and not a 'MONTHLY MEET'. Possibley with the costs of entrance (£34 for family ticket) included in the Event details, much like a Brands/Lyden meet etc.... If numbers are not great enough why should Ian bother with the arrangements......... Hey if the car park is big enough you may find more then 7 other scoobs there anyway, and then you can wave at anyone in the attraction wearing a blue and yellow shirt. :getmecoat: |

Re: SES MEETING 22nd AUGUST (1.00pm)
I think a trip to Dover Castle is a club trip out, and is a separate thing to a monthly meet, especially when important things need to be discussed. If I am going to Dover Castle I will be spending my time enjoying the venue rather than sorting out club stuff. I am a bloke, so can only focus on one thing at a time.
