Bluetooth obdII reader

Has anyone used a bluetooth obdII reader?

I need to get a fault code reader for my Blobeye (the classic had one built in grrr) but have seen you could use a Bluetooth adapter and an app on my phone.

Is this correct and would you guys recommend any particular ones?

Thanks

You can get the cheap ELM327 off ebay and they work, well the first one i had didn't work but the second one did, they are not the fastest readers but if you just want to see the fault code it would be fine

I don't think they work on jdm cars.:ok:

I sure I can read codes and clear them from my romraider and vagcom cable, been a while since I've done it. Happy to do it for you if you want to pop round.

Thanks for the offer Simon, that would be awesome.

It looks like only a few expensive bluetooth ones will work with Apple products which is a pain.

I might just get an Elmscan 5 they seem to be a lot cheaper than they used to be.

I have a BT1 works fine blu-tooth but its not cheap, you can use a cheap ELM237 wifi one will also work just fine for reading faults and clearing codes (with an Iphone)

Not all Ebay ELM's work fully.
I ended up going through 2 or 3 that either didn't work at all or only worked on certain apps.

This amazon one worked for all though : http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...ilpage_o01_s00

i have a selection off stuff, from elm327 readers to vagcom, you name it. if anyone ever needs to use them just give me a shout, some of my stuff hasn't even been used yet. mainly VW/Audi stuff, but generic stuff as well. think i even have citroen/peugeot dealer diagnostics somewhere.

They're definitely hit and miss.

Had a code read off mine by one before though, so if it's all that's available it's worth trying.

Thanks, is this the kind of one?

Are these any better / worse than the ones above?

http://scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/pro...oducts_id=3508

OBDLink MX Wifi?

Thinking of updating my current reader to this as it seems to do scoobs, and other makes too?

Appreciate the cost is very different from those above...
:ok:

I think that's the one I wanted to get as it is good for Harry's Latimer on the iPhone. Unfortunately I won't be getting one now as new car won't have obd port I don't think, running a syvecs gp ecu. I'll have to splash some cash on a data logger for the dash that hopefully can be integrated with a camera, expensive stuff.
