New member checking in

Hi all, new member with a WRX here. I'm not based in the south east but thought I'd sign up as there's some really nice cars on here, and maybe I can convince one or two of the locals near me to road trip up to an event sometime. I've been really enjoying my WRX ownership but it's not a healthy addiction for my wallet, as I'm now looking for a nice Blob STI to modify.

Hi and welcome to SES :ok:

Devon is a fair treck, but would make a good day trip :ok:

Be sure to post up some pics and car specs when you get a sec.

Ryan :ok:

Thanks mate. My current car is a black 2005 WRX with a few modifications:
STI springs and dampers
3" turbo back exhaust
Walbro 255 fuel pump
STI injectors
HKS SSQV
Upgraded cone air filter
BBS 17" alloys
STI wing and fog covers

I only have one picture at the moment I took when I first picked it up, when it stops raining I'll give her a clean and get some decent photos up.

Unfortunately, i got done over a bit when i bought it, but i guess that's what happens when you buy a car not knowing too much about them. It was sold as being 310BHP with a dyno print out, but only made 250 when I got it dyno'd, with high read outs for fuel and boost. So, I get the impression one of the previous owners sold off a larger turbo to make more money from the car, as it only has the standard turbo now, if I'd have known what i do now i could have seen instantly it couldn't be that much power as it still has the restrictive intercooler Y-pipe in place.

Hello and welcome to SES .

Welcome to SES, sounds like the car has a bit of an interesting past. I am sure you will make it your own in time and have everything the way you want it in terms of power and looks. Are you going to try another turbo in the future?

Welcome

If its got pink injectors i'm guessing it probably had a vf35 on it as its the most usual swap. If its been mapped for that and the last owner just swapped the turbo back before selling then i'd definitely get the map sorted now, especially as you know fuel mix/boost aren't right. Where did it go on a dyno? Even on a td04 with a full decat you should be somewhere around 280 rather than the 250 you're seeing once the map is fixed. :)

Thanks guys :-)

I had the car ran on the dyno as part of a service to check everything was ok (standard power run, no mapping), they did say the same as you that i should get it mapped as soon as possible really if i'm going to be driving it, as the maps not right at all, and much like you, said i should be looking for toward the 270 region.

I left it for the minute as i literally won't be using it for a few weeks due to my schedule, but as said above i'm looking for an STI now as i added up the parts i wanted to get and it would cost me a lot more than if i start off with an STI.

I was looking for an STI originally, but being my first Subaru and AWD thought i'd get the WRX for a bit before i take the plunge. So, i was just debating whether to knock the price down when i sell mine on the basis it needs a map rather than pay for it, and probably add no value.
