David Bowie.

Really sad news to hear about this. For me he was such an iconic influence across generations of music.

For us older one's who might remember loved his music especially from Hunky Dory to Station to Station.

R.I.P.

he's had some crackers over the years and the respect within the industry must have been v.high given the varied collaborations he had

Always liked his music think my favourite is Ground Control to Major Tom .

I was genuinely shocked and saddened this morning.

The genius of David Bowie, for me, was the number of times he did something different, yet it was all brilliant. That is a rare achievement in any field. Even his piss take song in Extras mocking the Ricky Gervais character was a catchy and well structured piece of music!

I cannot imagine there will ever be another quite like him and it is desperately sad to lose such a class act at a comparatively young age.

Like Scotty, A Space Oddity is a favourite of mine, together with the Ziggy Stardust era (especially Star Man). That said though, I could listen to his various era albums all day.

I saw Eddie Izzard suggested that's exactly what all music stations should do on the radio today; would be a fitting tribute and would educate a number of the yoof in the world!

this is one of my favourites but rarely gets any air time..........

Not the best tribute. I thought it was quite poorly put together and showed a real lack of talent at the BBC. Real shame. :(

I reckon there's a Bowie song for everyone. You just need to have a look. ;)

Red Baron 11-01-2016 09:37 PM

There's no denying he was a talented artist but just not a fan of his music, it wasn't helped by his last album being forced down my throat every time I turned the radio on. Spent the journey home from work tonight station hopping trying to find something to listen to that wasn't a Bowie track, shame it wasn't the same last week when Lemmy died.

Banstead Stig 11-01-2016 09:45 PM

Ah, you see I don't listen to the radio much, Radio 4 mostly.

Did anyone hear the Today Programme this morning? It was hilariously terrible. The lady talking about migrants freezing to death was basically cut off as there was a lot to cover 'what with the big news of David Bowie's death'.

Much as I do like Bowie's music, I'm not sure his death should belittle the plight of people freezing to death trying to flee their native homes!

Very sad news ... :(
