I no nutting lol

I'm wanting to no can a classic Subaru run ok with a deleted idle control valve just that I have been told you can but I'm thinking not

Red Baron 20-01-2016 07:41 AM

Pull the plug on it and see what happens, probably get a CEL and won't idle when hot/cold.

So your saying you can but it will not idle hot or cold thanks .. So driving one with it deleted is going to be a nightmare

Red Baron 20-01-2016 08:19 AM

All I know is mine was playing up until I removed it and cleaned it all up and trying to brake for a junction and keep it from stalling was a nightmare.

Ok thanks so you can run a Subaru classic with iacv deleted but not practical thanks m8

I never said you can run without, I just described my experience of running with a problematic one.

thepieman 20-01-2016 10:02 AM

you "could" run without one but you'd need to make some adjustment on the throttle body somehow....... but! soon as you load the system at all.. air con, heater blower etc etc it'll run rough..... as said you'll also struggle when coming of throttle to keep it going...

It could be done but why would you? its not like it only works at certain points, its working all the time....

Its called a idle control valve for a reason it lets your car sit at the right rpm when sitting stationary and why go to all the hassel to delete it in the first place beats me .
