Good 18 inch tyres
Ok people after the last thread iv decided to go with 18s..
Just need some advice on tyres Which will include a few laps at the ring this year Thanks |
Oh im going 225 40 18
Iv seen some toyo proxes t1r for £59 will thses be suited Oh and the car is a bugeye |
Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas have been my choice with the Scoob, did well round the ring on a couple of laps last year too. Always pretty well priced on the net.
The Eagle F1's get a big thumbs up from many folks on here too and the Asymmetric 3's have been released recently I believe. |
£59 is a very good price, I used to run T1rs and found them pretty good - I currently run Hankook V12s
|
i have hankook v12s on the 18s which are pretty good all rounder wet and dry,and yokohama ad08s on 17s... ado8s are far superior.. but wont last you very long at all!!:doubleup:unsure if they do them in 18s to be honest.

I currently have a set of Hankook V12s as well as a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 2s. The Goodyears in my opinion are the best of the tyres i've mentioned, I briefly had a set Vredesteins too, I didn't like them apparently you have run them in (for 300 ish miles) something I've ever had to do with the others to feel confident with them. The Goodyears are very good in the wet which is why they are 'A' rated..:ok: Hope this helps Russ. But for the ring I will be taking my Toyo 888s  ps. Russ if you want to see them in the flesh pop over. |

Sounds reasonable if you can go for the ones with rim protection built in. :ok: |
Its was for the 2's the 3's were £79.70

Yeah good price for 2s. I could be wrong but ive heard the 3s don't come with the rim protection option.

I hated the TR1s on Mrs Stig's wagon. Horrible in anything but the perfect dry.
My summer tyres on the FSTi are Sessantas and when new they're astoundingly good. Once worn, and not really worn, they tramline like a bitch. I've had it with two sets as my second set of OEM FSTi alloys came with them on and at similar wear levels the same happened. Mrs Stig now has Eagle F1s and I'm impressed. This is what I'll buy next for the Forester. |
So the goodyears will also be a good choice for the ring trip.. ?
Any views on the bridgestone potanza adrenaline adrenaline |
You can't go wrong with the Goodyear Eagle F1s for sure.
Vredestein Sessantas are superb for the money. As Ian said, a few years ago i got mine and they were a bit squirmy for a couple of hundred miles but after that they're very good in both wet and dry. Most of the trackdays I've done have been on the Sessantas, no problems at all. Not had any tramlining issues with mine yet either. All depends on the usage of the car. If its not a daily, then i'd look at the Nankang NS-2R as well. Has the advantages of being a trackday tyre but it still works pretty well in the wet and is cheap enough to not worry about wearing it out on the road :) |
