Lack of Broadband - solution required

Alreet :meow:

Going to be left without broadband in the new house for a month or so, so am wondering if anyone has any ideas...?

MiFi boxes via SIM...?

Clearly we can just use mobiles for a bit but need something a bit more encompassing to connect lappies & the iDevices too.

Suggestions peeps...?

:notworking:

I'd just use your phone as a hotspot (assuming you have decent 4G) Otherwise look for a MiFi and the cheapest rolling contract or Pay as You so Sim you can find (usually EE).

As above, id use my phone as a hotspot but I have unlimited 4g on my contract tho. If that failed I'd use my work blackberry as a hotspot :nono:;-)

Yep thought the same. Then I realised that the only way I get signal is through the EE wotsit box plugged into my current BB router. . .and even then it's only 3G poop.

Is this some sort of work based punishment?

NorthDownsScooby 03-05-2016 07:58 PM

The difference between business and pleasure more like Banners.

Banstead Stig 03-05-2016 08:05 PM

Just struck me as faintly ironic.

The Hearse

Banstead Stig 04-05-2016 08:29 AM

Was unsold.

See if this works though... http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/182107431658...&ul_noapp=true

Steve_PPP 04-05-2016 08:31 AM

Ah, no wonder it didn't come up in a quick search. Still looks nice... shame it ended up on ebay.

Still holding its price it seems. Don't know whether it actually sold though that's the problem.

:wedgie:

Steve_PPP 04-05-2016 09:06 AM

Prices do seem to be holding up well across the Subaru board really. I was looking for a nice leggy estate 3-4 years ago before i bought the mondeo, and they're the same or higher now for cars with less than 100k miles. Lost 4k in depreciation on the mondeo in that time (just over £1k per year). Should have waited for a leggy and lost nothing! :)

SpecB 04-05-2016 09:07 AM

The Spec B is worth the same now as when I bought it!

Lost £2700 on the Civic over 25000 miles in 18 months so don't feel too bad Steve, I spent a fair amount on it as well. If I'd traded it in rather than selling privately it would have been £3700! The Scoob on the other hand is worth more now than I paid 3 1/2 years ago.

Do you mean no broadband at all, or just no fibre? We only get 1meg ( I know ) as we are still on the old copper lines, but as we have no neighbours the ping is always good.

No there's fibre Nick, just can't get an installation for a month. Long story.

Currently on 200meg mmmm mmmm mmmmmmmmmm.

Shame it ended up with having to have a rebuild!

I get the impression the latest owner hasn't been all that caring!

I've waited 4 years so far, Openreach didn't want to entertain the
Idea of laying 2 miles of cable just for 1 house...

Steve_PPP 04-05-2016 12:27 PM

Oh, didn't notice that it had been rebuilt. But then its still a 2.5 ;)

Shame if it hasn't been looked after though. Was mint when I last saw it at meets.

Someone I know e-mailed the seller as the mileage was advertised as lower than when Rich had it.

Anyway, the rebuild was done by the people who sponsor the owner in some race series (so he didn't pay for it) and the impression was very much given that he'd given the car quite a hard time.

I know it's a bit of a leap, but if you're in a race series and don't have to pay for the work to your car, there's every chance you won't be all that sympathetic with it in my opinion.
