Turbo Timer!

Afternoon,

Advice please. I drive a Blue Hawkeye 2007 2.5 should i install a turbo timer on a TD04 or not ?

No - just drive off boost for the last part of the journey, plus it's illegal to leave a car running unattended on the road in the UK.

The car will cool sufficiently if you just drive gently for the last 5 mins or so before stopping and will be lubricated better for that time as well than if left at idle.

Agreed with above - running off boost when you are doing last 2-3 miles will help more than a turbo timer.. :ok:

Another no, spend the money on something else for the scoob :)

The TD04 is a fairly robust turbo anyway, as long as you've not be thrashing it then switching the car straight off it'll be fine.

Got one fitted never used the damn thing just cant be bothered to chase the wires and remove it just drive off boost as said before in other posts .

and another NO from me, 60 seconds of idle and drive off boost if possible for last few minutes of journey if driven hard will be fine. It's more of an issue on roller bearing turbos that can spin for a lot longer when engine off i think.

My turbo spins for a good 30 seconds or so when turned off and that's always from idle!
