Exhaust on fire

Was having a play with my mate on a privert road I must add and as I past him he said the whole time I had my foot down pulling away from him my exhaust had fire/flames coming out of it!!

The car is a 04 uk sti with sports cat and miltek centre/rear uprated fuel pump mapped by Duncan to 330bhp is this normal to be doing this sort of thing or do I need to look in to it??

You need it looked at, shouldn't be doing that, unless you have some kind of flamer kit installed

Rdlangy1 23-10-2016 07:01 PM

Yeah def have it looked at!

Ok guys thanks knew someone on here would know I wasn't sure. As it has got a few pops mapped in and did hit the limiter.

Guessing I need to get on to Duncan who mapped it to check it out on the rollers??

if he has mapped for pops and bangs, if you hit the limiter i wouldn't be surprised to see some flame licking going on, but ifr there for more than a second or so i would be a bit worried.

Right ok I did hit it quite a bit in 2nd and 3rd not on purpose tho might be good idea to set the Rev warning thing up lol! Anyway think there was fair bit of flames as my mate said it looked like the exhaust was on fire as I was going past him.

Think I should get it check out to be safe?

Just spoken to my mate again he said it looked like the inside of the exhaust was on fire and stuff was falling out burning!

Wadding could be catching alight,
best thing for peace and mind get it on a rolling road and check the fueling,
for the sake of £70

Going to get it checked out like you say but it's not easy getting hold of Duncan tried calling him today

Banstead Stig 24-10-2016 09:43 PM

If you can't get hold of Duncan, you could just get it over to Charlie to get it diagnosed on the rolling road.

Got it booked in with Duncan but not till dec as I couldn't get the time off before that he available hopefully something simple.

I'm thinking it could even be the sports cat breaking up??

Dan881 13-12-2016 06:26 PM

Been to see Duncan today and the car was running very rich due to what he believes the sport cat on its way and it restricting flow! So he has sorted out the fueling and has slightly less power for now till I sort out a new sports cat or just go decat
