Milltek exhaust

Hi all. I have got a milltek centre pipe and back box but it seems to short and doesn't reach my sport downpipe? Am I being stupid here and missing something as it is about 3 or 4 inches? Its bugeye and thanks in advance

HYDROSCOBY 18-05-2017 06:24 PM

I guess the down pipe is shorter than it should be. So annoying and I was looking forward to hearing it :(

Domo2106 18-05-2017 06:58 PM

I had this before on my old Scooby the classic and new age downpipes are different lengths
A classic exhaust will fit a new age but u need the complete system

SpecB 18-05-2017 07:03 PM

The Milltek 3'system that I had on the big had a longer downpipe than standard and was not comparable with other systems.

Well the downpipe is of a newage bug and the milltek center pipe and back box is for a newage bug, so not sure why it wont fit. Dam car. I might just sell the new exhaust from milltek if anyone is interested

How big is the gap between the downpipes and the mid section - you may need a cat bypass pipe!

scotty 19-05-2017 12:22 PM

Your downpipe is to short by the sounds of it .

if the centre & box are off a Twin Scroll car then it wont mate up........

HYDROSCOBY 19-05-2017 01:50 PM

Just annoying me when you ask and you try your best and then its still wrong and dosnt fit. Why dosnt everything have to be different lenghts, just make everything the same car makers for god sake

Here is a pic of the New (newage) downpipe and old centere pipe, the new centre pipie is on the floor and you can see its short of meeting?

How come the new downpipe is the same lenght as the old one downpipe? (And yet the wrong lenght?) if the old center pipe meets up to the new downpipe, Im so confused because this new short centepipe is new and should be a direct replacement. Is it just that I have had the wrong down pipe twice?

scotty 24-05-2017 07:06 PM

Well looking at whats fitted to the car it looks like the centre pipe has been extended as i can see a weld on it or is that something else .

scotty 24-05-2017 07:10 PM

This bit looks like an extension

It is a extension and not sure why that would be needed

Best bet is to buy a miltek one then you know it will fit .

Scott.T 24-05-2017 11:13 PM

Isn't a classic downpipe shorter than a newage

Thanks alot but I want a sport cat on the car for the emissions. I know that it might not pass a MOT because its not standard but worth a try
