SES. CHRISTMAS DINNER 19th December
:santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave:
After quite a few phone calls I have decided that the Christmas meal will be held at THE WOODMAN. http://www.thewoodman-idehill.co.uk/ Its fairly central and has good road links to the SES area. To make this a more sociable event at this festive time of year I have thought about making this an evening event, so that peoples other halves can come along and not be bored out off their brains standing round in a cold car park whilst we talk scoobs. The meeting time will at 7.00pm. Please let me know your thoughts about having a nice relaxed evening meal, as opposed to a lunch time meet. :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: |

£19.95 pp  That includes 3 courses, the menu is not yet published but I have spoken to the Landlord and he assures me its special, it will soon be available on the pubs web site. They also have a full menu alongside the Christmas one. I am looking forward to this meeting. |
Ok mate thats great.
|
ses christmas dinner 19th december
is there a travel lodge near the pub
|
Quote:
I have just spoken to the Landlord and he is on the case, unfortunately they dont have any accommodation at the pub. I have just googled Travel lodge there isnt one that close by. Give us a couple of days. The Landlord has said he will contact me with some info. |

There should be plenty of places in and around Sevenoaks which is only about 3-4 miles away.
|
I fancy a go at this...would want a few sherbet's though.
|
Sounds like a plan with staying over.I am working on babysitters at the moment so will add to the list when i know.
|
Like the sound of staying over and having a bevy or three.
|
few beers sounds good, maybe i can convince the mrs to drive home
|
Not sure whether we are at the theatre that evening........checking in progress as tickets were ordered in the summer so can't remember.........
Well done for organising this Ian !!! |
We cant make it as we have made plans for that weekend unfortunately:doubledown: but we are organising a dinner at coopers on the 12th December with ss.
|
Quote:
Sounds like it'll be a nice night out! |
Quote:
I think it will a nice thing to do as it will be getting close to Christmas.:santawave::santawave: |
Should we be thinking about making this an afternoon thing, i have had quite a few people that cant make th evening but would love to come along if it was afternoon.

I thought that it would be more sociable to have an evening meal, so people can dress up a little if they wished to and celebrate the coming of Christmas. But if people would prefer a lunch time meeting please let me know on this thread, as I said on my original post. We obviously want as many people as possible at the meeting so I will go with the flow, the decision as they is yours. |
If its lunch then we can come
|
I just think we should cater for the majority. And the majority seem to be saying afternoon.
I am happy doing either, but we have to consider what most people want to do. |
:agreed: Mr.Worzel,
But where are the majoritry? Only one person has made any comments to me. Everyone please feel free to comment on this . Who feels it would be good to have an evening meal ? Who would prefer a lunch time Christmas meal? |
i still like the evening idea personally, we have lunch time meets all the time so why not do something different this time round?
And Claires driving = i'm :beer::beer: |
Please can we have your comments.
|
Happy to do either but evening dinner would be nice

Even though we cannot come due to my works christmas do, we think its a great idea and makes a big change to have an evening meet, top man Big E for a change from the norm, hope you all have a great time.:10::doubleup:
Bring on france:doubleup: |
Quote:
|
I'm hoping to come but depend on if there is somewhere to stay near by as I don't fancy driving back!
|
Quote:
I have just spoken to the Landlord and he is on the case to find a B&B, close by. |
It is only a suggestion but would you not be better of finding some were you can stumble into say like a brewers fayre with a holiday inn attached or a beafeater with a travel lodge ?
|
Quote:
I am always open to suggestions. I have thought of that, CJ. Personally I prefer home made food rather than mass produced, and seeing as its the Christmas meal whats better than a nice country pub? I agree that if it had a travel lodge next door it would be even better. This meeting is not fixed in concrete as I have said members suggestions are welcome. |
Not keen on the food at either type of place but if its about friends and drink I think th food is passable it would be a easy option
|
as long as there is aclohol
|
Food is really good at this venue, shame about the lack of hotel but I'm sure anyone wanting to come will have a good time... Drinking or not :doubleup::doubleup:
|
Spoke to big e other night all sounds good to me, good luck peole think me and Jaffa are on the beer
|
OK I'll say yes to this Sian will come too but ideally we'd like somewhere with a crashing option, it's a long drive back and a long way to go with no beer at the end!
Been looking more closely and the most sensible hotel option I could find was in Sevenoaks and was £120 a person - with a £10/15 taxi ride to get there from the Pub without working out what to do with cars makes this a very expensive night out! |

Is this a fixed menu affair or is there a choice. |
Scott
This is the Christmas menu, however i do believe you can also choose off the normal pub menu, BIG E will need to confirm, as he has been talking to the pub owner, http://www.thewoodman-idehill.co.uk/xmasmenus.htm |

|
I couldn't say 100% to be honest. Ian (BigE) has dealt with this.
I could pretty much say that it is right, as Ian would have changed it before he left for his hols if it were different. I will send him a PM regarding this now, so that when he returns he can post and let you know. Cheers Worzel |

Mexico (Cancun) flights are usually Saturdays or Tuesdays, so should be back tomorrow / Sunday or Tuesday / Wednesday I believe.

Hi, everyone I am back.
Well this is looking good . The tan should not have faded to much by the 19th, I have got a specially bleached white shirt and have ordered a fluorescent light just to make the tan show up more. We had a great time in a fantastic venue, the weather was superb, I just wished son Steve, could have been there. I am looking forward to this Christmas meal, I have just seen the menu and its looking good, the pub is also offering its normal menu. :coolsanta: |

Seeing that this is our Christmas meal I think that it would be nice to dress up a little.
Christine my otherhalf is asking what she should wear, so I think smart casual would be good.. |
Quote:

Quote:
:doubleup: What are your thoughts on this ?? 'T' shirts or smarter dress as I know that people like to dress up a little at Christmas?? At the end of the day as long as we have a good time, thats what counts. |
Quote:
I will go with the flow, although I stop at rubber, spandex or anything with leather/studs:cath:. |
smart casual is fine with me - especially as i never did get round to ordering my SES shirt!
 |
I'll put the tux back in it's bag then..... :sadnod:

I think I might dip out. Ice again tonight with more snow coming in later.
|
Due to the current weather and road conditions, I would suggest that you follow the directions from the link below. ie go in from the A25 end.
http://www.thewoodman-idehill.co.uk/findus.htm At the moment there is a small convoy going from Hasting leaving from The Harrow at 6.00pm. We shall be going straight up the A21 and possibly doing a pick up in Tonbridge. Then onto The Woodman. |
we'll be taking the easy M23/M25 route :)
