The interior of a STI has nice red lights, before I rip mine out to investigate, does the Hue just come from covers over the bulbs, or are they coloured LEDS ?

The age of the car would prompt me to think they are LED's
DEFI Gauges which have been around longer then the 2001>WRX use LED's

However Subaru are a bit behind the times so they may be candles with red covers.
When you turn them on a little japanese man in the dash, with a flint, lights them for you.
