SES Photo Shoot
 

This is something I would like to line up for the Spring of 2010 if possible. The idea being that we could shoot some pictures that we could use for an updated web banner (this one was always a temp) and promotion items for the club.

One of the pictures would need 41 scoobies minimum in it to make it work ( spelling out SES in scoobies :mrgreen:) and then many varied shots there after.

I am open to input on all points involved with something like this so please let me know your thoughts.

Unless we can find a better venue, I thought the Fairmile (where Surrey hold their meets) would be a good venue, as it's both big enough and photogenic. But please let me know if you can think of a better one.

What a great idea. I think the location would be good. Cant think of anywhere else big enough apart from the runway at gatwick, but may have to keep moving!. I suppose we could grovel to goodwood as that would look cool in the background too.

That's a great idea, there is no harm in making an enquiry when the time comes. Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say.

There's always Dunsfold - but it would cost about £250 (old prices) say £6 per car for 40 odd cars. But they may not allow that many !!

What can you / can't you do for that £250.00 and what sort of time do you get for that?

I expect they won't let us near the Top Gear track for obvious reasons, but can we do runway runs for instance?

Runway runs might be possible, off the back of our good behaviour last time. No doubt the Squadron Leader will be on here with contact and other details for you. We had a half day last time. Could do with a whole day really!

Obviously when I say runway runs, I don't mean 1/4 drag racing or the like, but like you did previously, it would be good to get some video footage too.

Not yet, first thing was to guage interest (which looks good) then we need to contact Dunsfold to ask the question and find out availability.

I'd like to think we could start the question asking this week.

One more thing Fudge, got my outdoor lights 6 weeks quicker than I thought I would, gonna do a trial ASAP and then we'll do the other shoot we spoke of. Don't tell anyone though..... ssshhhhhh! :norty:

Worzel....... just an idea but I have a 60 foot scaffold tower that I can put in one of the vans and erect it as a safe platform to take the photos from.

I can put it up with one of my guys and it will provide a mobile platform to take anywhere?

Inboard ladder, outriggers etc, all safe & sound,

Before thinking about Dunsfold... you need to make sure they'll allow that many cars. We only had 7 or 8 and were allowed to manage ourselves, and too be honest did far more than we were supposed to. 40 odd cars and they'll be watching you like a hawk. I don't think you'll get on the runway as we were not allowed. However... There are plenty of perimeter roads that'll do for photos. I don't have DP's contact details to hand, but will post them up tomorrow. Great idea though.

Good point form Jason. I suspect the large numbers will kill off this venue. We shall see.

This is why we could do with options really. I'm sure that between us we can come up with something.

Maybe we could arrange something at Bentley Wildfowl, we could also use the images to promote the Japbash Event?

Any thoughts on potential venues would be much appreciated.

DP may let you on with 40 cars, but you'll need to be marshalled which is going to put the cost up. A full day 'as a photo shoot venue' was £500. Add in marshalling (if they provide it) and it could get a bit expensive.

We used the end of the disused runway for the best shots. You would probably get 40 cars on it, but could be tight. I would suggest a mission ‘reccy’ beforehand.
