Tyre size help

I have a set of wheels which are 16 inch 7j +46 and understand I need a 215/45/16 tyre. As I can't find the tyre I want in that size would a 225/45/16 fit? The car is a version 2 sti ra with. Coilovers

225/45 will be wider.
Making the tyre wider also increases the rolling radius.

Have a look at: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

When i brought the wheels they had 205\50\16 tyres on them, found out that 225\45\16 have the same diameter ,but does anyone know if the 225 fit without rubbing

225 will rub i think i have 215/45/17 on 8 wide rims and they rub
think the right size for your rims would be 205

depends on wheel offset and shocks aswell

A 50 profile will have a different rolling radius to a 45 profile.

The rolling radius is the sameas ones a 205 and the other a 225,that's what the tyre calculator says

0.33% difference to be precise, nothing to worry about
