Lap times @ The Ring

Out of interest... Did anyone get any of their lap times at the ring?

worzel 08-06-2010 11:51 AM

Sunday, in the pissing rain, me and Nige, about 2 hours

Nige must have near the 8 min mark I think in the dry, Neil was at 8 mins I believe (Evo 10). Anger had a good one in the wet too, I'm sure he'll put that time in here, not sure on his dry times.

just over 10mins in the pissing rain on my 3rd lap.

Pretty empty track though!

worzel 08-06-2010 01:36 PM

Me and Nige both had 888's on in the pissing rain, don't know why we bothered really  It was a proper Miss Daisy lap for sure.

Anger 08-06-2010 01:38 PM

LOL a lap is still a lap! i'm sure its an expeirence at any speed.

My mate says he can get a van and car trailer rented for cheap. If thats the case i might trailer mr car if the rental works out less than the petrol and have a set of wheels in the van for weather conditions etc. Also no need to worry about vehicle revovery either should the worst happen. And lots of space for food and tools too lol

As you say, a lap is a lap. Glad I did it for sure, but it was slow

I am in the process of looking into the trailer / lowloader for next year myself.

Granted, but there won't be that inherant fear, of the dreaded clanging and banging associated with my engine having a **** and burying itself again.

I am probably being a bit of a bender and all that, but I really will do anythiung to not go through that hell again.

I can understand your worry steve...but your engine is a hell of a lot more reliable with the new bits than when it went bang!

Have faith!

Agreed. I think in all honesty mate, all of us had that fear, me included, even tho' its an 06 with 20k miles, you just never know when they are put under those conditions. Mine is used to tootling around town with the odd blast. but sat on high speeds for hours is totally different. If there is a weakness, then that sort of driving will find it. Mind you, its going like a rocket at the moment

An oil cooler will help to save your engine with a good quality stat , oil lines and cooler
Should be looking at about £270 for a kit and i'd be more than happy to fit or sort you the same kit as i have fitted

Lucky 08-06-2010 05:30 PM

Cheers chris, I will look into that. Thanks for the offer too
