Petrol Question
Just a quickie...
Seeing as mine unmoded Uk version, do i really need 99Ron, or is 97Ron fine?? |
97RON is fine you can even run it on 95RON but will notice the difference as it will reduce the timing to suite.
IIRC it is a legal requirement for all UK cars to be able to run on 95 RON. But due to the timing adjustment required and adjusted by the ECU to run 95RON the car will probably run less efficient then on 97RON and hence the pennies saved at the pump are lost in poorer fuel economy. I run mine on 97RON (Esso Normally), or 99RON Tesco. Very rarley use V-Power. If you run it on 97RON then fill up with 99 RON and notice a difference within a few miles then 99RON is allowing a bit more timing advance. 'BUT' the ECU will only allow a certain amount of timing advance. The car may be quite happily running the maximum on 97RON. |
I use esso super unleaded as i have done in all my imports with no problems.
|
A quick Google ".It is a legal requirement that all engines sold in the EU must be able to run on 95 unleaded-OK,some may produce more power on higher octanes but they must be calibrated for 95."
|
Thanks for that, Only asked as I normally use V-power, but was running low, so filled up at Sainsburrys, and their 97ron is only 119 litre. Havent seen petrol that cheap in a fair while.
|
I always used V-Power or Tesco99 in my scoob
I still have to use them in my Kompressor Use normal unleaded in my 190E.... Saves me a bit of money |
Use the 99 mate, its the best fuel for the engine
|
Tesco have just re-branded their super I noticed, have they changed it at all though as mine ran like a bag off poo on their super compared to V-Power and as for BP!!!!!
|
there was a few bad batches of tescos petrol not sure if theve changed it though, i normally just stick with v-power
|
I have used the new Tesco Premium99 the last 2 fill ups. Not noticed any change
It's still cheaper than V-power |
slung £50 of v-power in my wrx yesterday, bit of a waste as a drivetrain fault has stopped play :(
