Jap Performance Parts Drift Car

The link below is of the first competitive drifting that the new Jap Performance Parts Drift Team have taken part in.

Saj is hoping to get the Car & Driver to Japbash this year, so it should be a good draw.

Seems odd seeing a Subaru in action without the grumble of a flat four - pity they had to lose the side exhaust the car originally had!

Hopefully this will be at the JDM Allstars event at Wembley next month.

I neve knew it had side exhaust. That must have sounded glorious

I think I might be talking rubbish. I was sure the original test video:

Showed the car driving right past the camera with a side exhaust - just watched the video again though and I can't see it; so apologies, I might be thinking of a different car!

The JDM All Stars? I'll be honest I'm not sure as the JDM site is one of the worst motorsport websites for updates. I notice a map has appeared on the site in the last few days and it looks like its in the car park area.

The event was originally scheduled for this weekend coming, but I (thankfully!) spotted a post on Driftworks indicating that it had been rescheduled to August 28th/29th - the official site has only just registered the new date!

The only official posts I've seen on it indicate its an "all new" layout for this year, but I assume its still contained to the car park. I've never been to a "proper" drift event (I've always just seen it tacked on to other stuff), so I think I'll be giving it a try - as long as they don't change the dates again!

Heres the flyer for anyone whose interested:

PS: I did some more research - it was this car I was thinking of! Picture from the build thread on Jap Performance Parts:

One side exhaust! Thats why its stupidly loud in the test video!

I bet it was loud, christ that must have been deafening.

I was SO hoping they would start it up when they trailered it to the Surrey meet a while back - I need to get my finger out and see it in action somewhere!

Mortster 19-07-2010 07:54 PM

Have they kept it 4WD, or converted it to 2?

Anger 19-07-2010 07:57 PM

Rear wheel drive... theres a few rear wheel drive scoobies about

tbtstt 20-07-2010 09:01 AM

As Anger says its rear wheel drive; the only mention of drive in the write up references an R180 RA diff that was used on the rear, but there is no clue as to how they've done it.

The complete write up on the car can be found here:
