Flashed when I wasn't speeding... should I be worried?

I was on my way back from work going along King Offa Way today (a259) in bexhill and that camera flashed me. It is a 40mph along there is it not? My speedo was definitely reading just under 40 and the other cars around me were doing the same speed! Should I be worried!? What do I do if I do get a ticket through the post as I', 100% sure the speedo was reading under 40mph

Cheers,
Dave

Thought you were allowed something like +5% plus 5mph tolerance? Provided you weren't over about 45mph I'd have thought it was ok. Was there anyone thrashing it the other way? Camera on my way home from work will flash if I'm a little far over the centre line even if my speeds within limits

Picture should show speed in relation to road markings anyway:nod:

So actual speed can be worked out from the pics buy using the distance covered between shots.

Seen and been flashed by many whilst under limit travelling in direction and flashed whilst travelling towards, all without follow up..

It is a pain waiting to find out though:nod:

Wait and see i guess

If you get a fine, i presume there is some sort of appeal you can try

BIG"E" 10-11-2010 05:23 PM

The camera is facing towards Eastbourne.

but sometimes it can be triggered by someone traveling towards Hastings if they are speeding.

So I have been told.;-)

It may have been triggered from the other side of the road if none of the traffic around you were speeding.

If you dont here anything within 14 days (I think) you cant be done.

Ive been flashed by the one coming into Brighton a few times when cars have been travelling fast the otherway... never had anything in the post

Ian is right, a fast moving car coming the other way can set them off. The one on the A259 at Ovingdean does it all the time, errr... aparantly

Have to wait and see mate, as lots of people said it could of been set off by a car going the other way, if you werent speeding youve got nothing to worry about, you could allways go online and try one of the satnav sites to try and find out the speed limit on that road, worth a try to put your mind at rest

Yes it is definitely 40mph.

I thought it was! I should be ok then.... just didn't see any cars thrashing it the other way! Annoying thing to happen as even though I'm gonna be ok hate having that lingering feeling that there could be a lot of hassle!!!

Last thing I need is 3 points with insurance being so expensive and being young, added on top of looking for a 'performance' car.

Funnily enough I was in the scoob for once as am insured for a week on it, god i miss it!

I take it u didn't get any takers on ebay? i thought u had some bids?

Frenchie 11-11-2010 06:11 PM

Was told by the police that for speed cameras its 10% + 1mph,therefore in a 40mph limit you should be safe up to 45mph.
