When i posted a similar thread i was told not to bother and spend my money on a green cotten panel filter.I have read a few threads where cone filters can cause problems but I am sure someone else with more knowledge will post soon

Map will be needed for decat - also don't bother with an induction kit unless going over 400BHP.

on a classic car (generally speaking) its unlikely you will have issues with a de-cat, and none at all if its simply the centre section.........
FYI the only classic cars that had a centre cat are the UK spec, all others simply had a silencer box that does look similiar externally as for the cone filter, then all it adds to a std car is a little noise..........the std air box is actually very efficient and simply fitting the likes of a K&N panel will suffice |
I just changed my cone filter back to the standard airbox with a panel filter and the car runs better at lower revs and is smoother to drive. Cant feel any difference in the performance either really...

Standard airbox on a classic with a good quality filter such as Green Performance or K&N etc...are good for about 320BHP.
I ran one of these for years at over 315BHP. I then swapped to an Apexi Induction, and with a slight map tweak made another 15-20BHP and about 10lb/ft torque. But the map was adjusted to suite. |
Cheers for the info guys. Much appreciative. I primarily wanted a cone filter to do away with a bov valve as u can hear the whoosh sound just as well .
