Jolly Green Monster 15-11-2010 08:46 PM

Today was first time I really saw car, spent sometime accessing and looking at it etc but couple of hours work also spent on it and chuffed with purchase and progress.

Rear subframe, steering column, steering rack, steering wheel, hubs etc installed and now sits on its own wheels, except there not as they are borrowed lol
Entire loom then pretty much removed.

Many thanks to stew and bod for working on it with me

Simon

Anger 15-11-2010 08:56 PM

Was funny moving it on Sat with the wheels all over the place

Jolly Green Monster 15-11-2010 09:00 PM

I did consider returning it to standardish spec about 400 and using it daily but the 2door is not ideal for everyday use that I do.

SpecB 23-11-2010 08:36 AM

worzel 23-11-2010 10:20 AM

This is shaping up very nicely already.

scoobycoops 23-11-2010 07:37 PM

Simon,
Keep the photos coming.
This exciting. It's like a weekly dose of the Beano. I couldn't wait for the next one when I was a kid.
It's like a eastenders for blokes and a practical supplement to top gear.

scoobycoops 23-11-2010 07:39 PM

Mind you - you've taken so much out it's like automobile anorexia...

When it's done I would be interested to know the weight comparison.

Jolly Green Monster 23-11-2010 07:54 PM

Lmfao :)

AndyWRX 23-11-2010 08:41 PM

Reluctanly replacing the green one

Track, drag, road, sprint, fun.

scoobycoops 29-11-2010 08:43 PM

What's the weight diff on the doors?

Jolly Green Monster 29-11-2010 09:07 PM

Dunno

Steel doors still on the car at the mo but considerable

nothing, it is currently tucked up in my garage..

basically to do what I want to do I would need to take the car off the road (the green one) and rip it apart.. it is a UK shell so has underseal and with all my stripping of the car it matched a fairly unstriped type r weight for weight at 1230kgs.. yes I have a cage but had stripped out a lot of weight.. so to do the green car properly I would need to strip it to a bear shell and be without my car for a few months realistically.. and I hate that..
I also have always wanted to scratch the 2door itch.. and this one came along cheap..
so here it is :)

There is no point me having two cars of similar ilk.. they don't sell complete, so all the best bits off the green car will be put into this new one ansd the remains of the green car parked up in case I need it / want to build something else in future.

worzel 15-12-2010 01:25 PM

I can't wait to see where this project goes. It's gonna be a stunner.

So, question!.....

.....Colour?

Will it be Green again, as in your logo green? That would look stunning

A nice set of white alloys would finish that off beautifully :ok:

Jolly Green Monster 15-12-2010 01:29 PM

Colourwise I have done a complete spectum of it will be white with green graphics to black with green graphics but deffo decided it will be green, I have a couple of shades in mind but likely to be a bit brighter than the other car :)

AndyWRX 20-12-2010 06:32 PM

Kawasaki greens allways good ;-) cant wait to see the finished product mate

Jolly Green Monster 22-12-2010 11:19 PM

it deffo ticks all the right boxes

RobEvo5 06-01-2011 03:58 PM

Hats off to you, that's dedication to the cause in its extreme. You already have 2 very sorted scoobs and your still not content or waivering away from scoobism.

Jolly Green Monster 06-01-2011 05:50 PM

Had to scratch the two door itch also :)

Lucky 06-01-2011 06:51 PM

Taking shape and looking good Simon, but christ knows where you find the time!

scoobycoops 06-01-2011 07:37 PM

Jolly black and green monster works. Jolly White and green monster, etc but anything other the green is a tough sell!!!

Jolly Green Monster 06-01-2011 09:11 PM

It will be green sent colour change off on logbook.

Possibly engine bay in white to aid fluid spray spotting and interior to match for same reason. Lol

scoobycoops 06-01-2011 10:36 PM

Might have got the wrong end of the st... Wrong idea.
How much fluid are you going to spray inside?

scoobycoops 06-01-2011 10:37 PM

Kidding aside - White interior is a genius idea for detection, etc

Jolly Green Monster 16-01-2011 06:25 PM

few parts bought and engine decision made :)

intercooler
http://i950.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/60c8ddbd.jpg
http://i950.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/d109a41f.jpg

engine
http://i950.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/2a6b0733.jpg

using this engine will delay the car being complete but seem silly to fit 2.3 and then pull it apart at some point in the future to fit the new engine.

Simon

DukeBoy 16-01-2011 06:31 PM

Thought that decision was made along time ago :norty:

not 100% as if it took ages to get built which is likely with cams having to be made and waiting on custom rods and new mahle pistons it was going to have the 2.3 dropped in but decided it's silly to rush

Simon :)

Scooby_Greg 16-01-2011 08:41 PM

Are they mini coke cans or is it just huge??

Jolly Green Monster 16-01-2011 08:44 PM

Full size cans but intercooler is similar size to normal fmic

Scooby Si 16-01-2011 09:04 PM

Twin entry/exit??... What Turbos?? :o)

Jolly Green Monster 16-01-2011 09:07 PM

Twin yes

Various is the answer to what turbos, start small and work up

Broadside Brenda 17-01-2011 11:57 PM

Thats going to wicked mate, will be interesting to see what sort of power and torque it makes. Cat cams may be worth speaking to about the cams, they make hollow camshafts to keep the weight down and they will make them to any spec. They should be able sort out some vernier pullys too if there any diffrent to EJ20 etc?

Jolly Green Monster 18-01-2011 12:00 AM

cams are in progress.. last I heard the cnc machine program was being written.

they are very different.. the exhaust only have cam wheels and a cambelt.. the inlets are driven by a cog wheels from inlet to exhaust.. all will be revealed as it gets built I suspect.. so adjustable cam wheels become an issue as you adjust the exhaust wheels but it also effects the inlet.. possibly looking at offset keyways etc to allow adjustment of the inlet cams too

Simon

Anger 18-01-2011 12:08 AM

If you need a facelift rear bumper, i have one from the RA looking for a good home Si :)

Jolly Green Monster 18-01-2011 12:12 AM

forgot they were different.. hmmmm maybe :)

Anger 18-01-2011 12:15 AM

I'll drop it off at Stews

Jolly Green Monster 18-01-2011 12:19 AM
