Mourning power

Remember the early days when it was a good read?

R.I.P. Max Power

I used to get this every month about 10 years ago, I loved it and my RS Turbo was in there twice! I had a flick through one recently and my god it was awful, shame but I cant say I'm surprised it got canned.

Tis a sad day indeed! :sadnod:

All good things come to an end at some point though

Shame, it was a great mag back in the day, and the Max Power shows in Birmingham were great, RS Turbos and R5 GT Turbos......great memories

Its gone from selling 240,000 to 22,000 apparently

worzel 17-11-2010 02:11 PM

Jeeeesus!

Thats the trouble with (a) so many choices and (b) the internet.

As most of you know, I run a print company. My print runs are shrinking all the time. I lost a £100k + Per Annum, weekly magazine job, which went on line!

The start of the end for the written word I fear :sadnod:

Newspapers - Read Online
Cd's - Download online
Films - Download online
Books - Download online
Shopping - Online

It is the way everything is now, if i want a new tv, I find the one i want in the showroom to make sure it is good, then buy it online. It is easier and cheaper, and with all the piracy for games, films, music, books etc it will only get worse.

DukeBoy 17-11-2010 07:38 PM

Thing is if you buy a mag thats just full (cover to cover) of the same ads every month, its not going to sell.

I blame the car forums.......

oh.... errrmmmm lol

Scott.T 17-11-2010 08:35 PM

I remember the first edition, 1987 or 1988 at a guess. it included a purple Dimma bodykitted Pug 205GTI, which was all the rage back then.

I havn't bought a copy for about 8 years.

I think Redline mag done the right thing. 2 years ago it was v.similar to Max Power, but is now quite technical and all about performance improvements and less about Tit's and Bling.
