fuel consumption

Took the car to work and back, done roughly 200 miles, and its sitting on empty!!!
I didnt drive it overly hard, mostly sat at 80, on low boost (spring pressure).
I changed the coolant temp sensor on thursday, and it was sitting at about half a tank, i spent some time sat in traffic on the M25 carpark.
There are no error codes, i reset the ecu right after changing the sensor.

Anyone got any ideas on what might be doing it??

i'd say 200 miles is pretty good for this time of year, mine drinks like an alcoholic in the cold :(

mikey2 18-12-2010 03:33 PM

really?? i got 380 to a tank on my old one, in the cold, was a much longer run, but it shouldnt be that bad should it??

Never mind you can get patches for holes  For Scoobs it's better for the recovery driver if the tanks empty :kicknuts:

At the ring it was a quarter of a tank a lap

I'm getting that at the moment but quite frequently at least 280.....clearly I must try harder!

I am around 200 at the moment, but that is all local. I only fill up every 2/3 weeks. On a journey and with warmer weatherm, it can get to 300.

I put £30 in the C230 two weeks ago, the needle has hardly moved since..... but neither has the car :sadno:

mikey2 24-12-2010 08:00 AM

its been better this week, i have done the 200 miles and still have a quarter tank left, that and the needle goes well below empty before i run out anyway!!
The only thing different is a nice shiney new coolant temp sensor!!
I tend to sit at about 80 anyway, so i dont expect it to be great, the 380 i got was a run from Carlyle to worthing, and that was mostly at 50mph ish.
