Hi guys, I'm stunned to see so much interest already....it's great to see, it was a real pleasure to have you guys at the event last year and we've taken on board some of the feedback to make it better this year, so hopefully we can give you a bit more space to display your cars rather than having you in rows as before.

if you do join up with the Surrey guys let me know so i can allocate an area that is large enough.\
once again we'll give you space for a marquee as well.

any other feedback please feel free and we'll try and put it into practice.

the event is bigger and better than last year already and i'll be back in a few days to let you know what is actually happening along with another secret link to buy the discounted display passes so you can get in for £7 for as many people as you have in the car in stead of £7 per person

speak soon and thanks once again for the amazing support.

Regards
Bachi

Steve_PPP 31-01-2011 05:38 PM

Hi Bachi,

Thanks for posting up again - everyone seemed to have a good day last year, hence the list is already started for 2011. If clubs have an area marked out, it leaves some freedom for us to arrange the cars. I think it would look more appealing to the public - the majority of people just walked past last year thinking it was more reserved parking (like the large Pistonheads area).

Good to hear that our suggestions are being listened to though :ok:

This is the official invite....although you've beaten me too it, it does give more details of the event...

The same basic framework applies, we're looking for a large static display area and once again are happy to accommodate as many of you as want to come.

Being part of the car club display means you get the best parking spaces (on the runway next to the main attractions) you do have to get there before the public but that does mean you can be first in the queue for most of the events and get extra space for a club stand/marquee if you want one.

You will also get the benefit of discounted entry (£7 per car and all occupants as opposed to £7per person - so essentially half price if there are two of you)

anyway firstly a quick precis of the event for those who have not been yet, i'll happily answer any questions you may have......

Dunsfold Supercar Family Funday aka Dads Day Out
Saturday May 14th 2011
http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/dadsdayout
http://www.petrolheadnirvana.com/torque

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...y/_DSC3181.jpg

Arguably the best event in the UK’s petrolhead calendar returns for it’s 3rd year and for 2011 the event will be bigger and better than ever before.

The Supercar Family Funday (held at Dunsfold Park the home of BBC’s Top Gear) is an interactive action-packed family event in aid of The Children’s Trust Charity in Tadworth.

This event has been co-organised by Petrolhead Nirvana in association with Club Scuderia the Ferrari enthusiasts’ site and this year is being sponsored by Shell V-Power. Over 6 months hard (unpaid) work has gone into making this a fantastic day out.

The main attraction of the day will be the 100 or so supercars giving passenger rides around the airfield in exchange for a donation to the charity. The cars will range from a mix of Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s, Ariel Atom’s, KTM X-bow’s, Aston Martin’s, Dodge Viper’s and others as well as a number of niche and even more exotic cars (which will be confirmed nearer the date but are likely to include F40’s, McLaren MP4’s, SLR’s and maybe even the odd Enzo, Zonda and Spyker).

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...y/_DSC2799.jpg

In addition to the main attraction there are also other interactive areas;

The Caterham Club will be demonstrating their form of car control in the shape of donuts and drifting, and will be taking passengers who are brave enough to get involved.

There’ll be a chance for kids from 14 upwards to take their first driving lesson in a dual control car next to a trained instructor (of course it’s open to anyone above the age of 14 too!).

As if all that wasn’t enough, we’ve also got Spectacular and electrifying stunts from East Coast FMX display team M.A.D. -the UK's number 1 mountain bike stunt & display team. Plus Dunsfold Fire Brigade will demonstrate their life-saving techniques and equipment by responding to a staged Road Traffic Collision.

Kids Zone marquee with Roary the Racing Car & Big Chris, who will appear for meet & greet and photos, a Roary merchandise stall plus a Crafts Zone where children can decorate their own race car to take home, face painting, balloon modeling and a Slot Car competition provided by Slot 32
Helicopter rides from Elite Helicopters- £35 per adult & £30 per child- these can be booked at the event
Routemaster bus rides to transport you in style from the car park to the event arena
Live music in the Bands Tent a variety of bands throughout the day

Fire Engine rides for children

Land Train and Fairground rides including a giant bouncy castle and soft play area plus Cub Carts for 3-9 year olds

Simulator with following experiences: Red Arrows, Ski, Car Rally, Astro Canyon, Glacier Run, Pepsi Max Roller coaster & many more.

Models Zone with model aeroplanes and helicopters from Addlestone Models and model car stalls.

Automobile-themed catering bars from DW Mobile Catering Bars

Static display of over 500 classic & sports cars including a Jordan F1 Racing Car plus a number of aircraft including Sea Harrier, Sea Hawk & Air Support Unit.

More attractions are being confirmed weekly, so keep checking back to find out what else is going on.

There is a large parking area and advance entry costs are £7 per adult and £3 per child. However car clubs who display their cars will only be charged £7 per car with a driver and up to 4 passengers.

Every penny raised from this event goes direct to The Children’s Trust.

Gates open to the public from 8.30am and the event starts at 9.00am. The first rides on the circuit will start at 9.00am and will run until 4.30pm (but no later due to noise restrictions at the airfield), so make sure you arrive early.

To book the car club entrance tickets you’ll need to follow this link:
http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/carclubdisplay

Please ensure you arrive (if you’re part of the car club) before 8.30am to give us enough time to direct you to the display area and enough time for you to set up your stand/marquee if you have one.

We would prefer you to stay for the duration of the show if possible and as there is so much going on during the day it should be a fun time all day.

In order to book rides in advance you’ll need to follow this link (don’t buy another entry ticket as the ‘display pass’ lets you in):
http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/...ay+Out+tickets

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...y/_DSC3532.jpg

Please make sure you book your rides in advance as there’s a limited number and they are likely to be sold out way before the event as it will be advertised in the national and local press, so book early to take advantage of it.

You can also use the same link to book Caterham and Helicopter rides, although the young driver training is not yet available to book online.

We’re expecting more than the 5,000 visitors we had in 2010 and of course the more people who attend the more we will raise for The Children’s Trust so please pass details of this event on to others. (Members of the public will have to purchase general entry tickets at £7 per person and £3 for a child instead of the £7 car club display ticket) We also have posters and flyers available so if you feel you can help to distribute these then please contact us and we will send you as many as you require.

I'm glad you're happy to join us again - look forward to seeing you on the day.

Just about to book this, but I have some friends who want to come too and will be in there own car, so will only park with the rest of the peasants in the main car park!. Can I order them a ticket for £7 or do they have to pay regular prices (£7 per person) as they are not on display???.

Cheers

I would have thought they'd have to pay the normal entrance fee. If they're not displaying a car, then they're just like any other member of the public i'm afraid.

Tell them to cough up, its for charity :D

The car club tickets are likely to go offline a few days before the event so you still have a bit of time.

One thing i should mention is that the ride tickets are starting to sell rather quickly and we've not launched it on PH or our other media channels as yet.

so if you want to book i'd suggest doing so sooner rather than later.

oh and as you've hit 15 cars already, I'm happy for you guys to add more numbers to your group, i can allocate you extra space at this early stage :)

As you're part of the SES club, you simply buy a £7 display pass and that will count as entrance for both of you as well

Looking good guys,
I'm going to need final numbers by next Tuesday so i have enough time to sort out who is parking where.

Can you also make sure you have bought your ticket in advance as that is the only way you will be able to access the display area and enter the event before the gates open to the public

just to make it easy for you the link to buy the display tickets is here.....
http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/carclubdisplay

Once again i need numbers by next Tuesday so if you can collate the numbers by then and have a list ready for me that would make my life a lot easier!!

Thanks again for all your support for this event, the guys at the charity have been bowled over by the response from everyone and asked me to pass along their thanks to you all

Regards
Bachi

Steve_PPP 04-05-2011 08:08 AM

Thanks Bachi.

Right guys and girls, we need one more push for anyone else who wants to come along.

Can everyone on the list please make sure they've paid!

Whereabouts did you meet up last year for Broadbridge Heath? I was at Dunsfold early last year to setup so missed the convoy. Want to keep the link up to as quick as possible (not stopping for 5 mins) so we aren't late :)

If theres anywhere where you can join onto the convoy as we drive by, that would be good :ok:

Best place at Broadbridge would be the Retail park just after you come off the A24

You only mentioned that one Nick because you can fill up with V-Power at the shell or at tesco's:razz:

Harsh 10-05-2011 09:34 PM

More fun things to do at Dads Day Out, especially for car clubs displaying...which of course means you guys.

The FDMC (Farnborough and District Motor Club) have chipped in to support us at Dads Day Out.

They will be setting up an Autosolo test course.

For those that don't know what it is, AutoSolo is a derivation of the famed Autotest, driving through cones on a pre arranged course against the clock.

Autosolo is a faster more fun version of that.

The guys at FDMC will set a time first thing in the morning and the trick will be to get as close to their time as possible so it's not about the fastest, just the most accurate.
Knocking cones over will mean a time penalty so you'll have to take that into account too.

All funds raised will go to charity but even so at £10 for 3 timed runs it's exceptionally good value for a very addictive challenge.

Slots will be allocated on the day on a first come, first served basis and they will be setting up on the overshoot section of the runway.

Because of this we have moved the static display area closer to that port of the runway so as to ease access both in and out of the display area so that you don't have to stay all day (as you wont be trapped by the Caterham drifting section which has now been moved to the previous display area.)

Remember the display tickets go offline at the end of tomorrow and will not be available on the day so if you miss those and still want to come you'll have to buy normal adult entry passes at £8 per person on the gate (as opposed to £7 for the car and up to 4 people in advance via this link..

What time and where on the estate please...

SpecB 11-05-2011 07:11 AM

If there's just 2 of us at Broadbridge I'd suggest we wait at the retail park entrance itself and just join the convoy just before the roundabout.

If you guys come down the A24 then exit onto the A264 @ Broadbridge Heath head past the retail park we can wait in the entrance/exit and pull out as you pass.

Sandman where will you be coming from?

Sandman 11-05-2011 08:56 AM

we will be coming along the a272, up the a24 and come off onto the a281, its easier for us than going up to pease.

Could be at the Bo-Ship sit in the hotel turn off. The go out through Ringmer and the Lewes Tunnel ???

Lucky 12-05-2011 12:37 PM

Right, total cock up on my part. God knows why, but I had it in my head that it is Sunday, not Saturday

I am now having major trouble getting cover for Saturday as we are so busy, so its looking like I wont be able to go now. I cannot believe what an absolute numpy I am :angst:

So, if I am not at Pease pottage by 7.30, then assume I am not able to make it.

I am now off to try and call in some favours and give myself a good slap

Harsh 13-05-2011 09:19 AM

Getting nervous now.....off to Dunsfold in a couple of hours to set up so i will see you guys on the day....come and say hello if you see me, be good to see some friendly faces to ease my stress!!

No mate, the ticket says no dogs.

Gonza 13-05-2011 05:48 PM

Just found out from event website no dogs..

Oh, and we'll be coming up the A29 from Arundel as its the fastest route and straight there.

Will keep an eye out for all you guys.

Might be taking the brolly and the kids rain cover too... looks to rain possibly at 4ish (may be an idea to get a supercar ride then ;)

I think they'll be a good few of us at Pease Pottage.

Just to confirm:

Pease Pottage - 7:30am (to leave at 7:45am sharp)
Broadbridge Heath - 8am (quick pull in, then go again)
Arrive at Dunsfold about 8:20am.

This is the route from Pease Pottage:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&so...,0.439453&z=12

Please use postcode GU6 8TB for satnavs, but note that you have to approach Dunsfold from the North (as per the map on the ticket).

See you all tomorrow

SpecB 13-05-2011 06:58 PM

We'll be in the entrance to homebase etc. On the A264 just before the Old Wickhurst Lane roundabout.

You are more than welcome to join us on the SES club stand. :)

In terms of taking someone elses place, i assume you mean the ticket? I think its now only pay on the gate, at £10 per person.
