Surreyscoobies BBQ 2009
Hi all,
Some of you may remember, either because you were there and (hopefully) enjoyed yourselves, or were miffed because you missed out, that 2008 saw the first Surreyscoobies Summer BBQ. I'm pleased to announce that the 2009 BBQ is confirmed, but in a slightly different format. Please make a note in your diary for Friday 24th July 2009 to Sunday 26th July 2009. Yes, that's right, a 2 nighter! (there is the option to do just the Saturday BBQ) Venue as before, Loxwood Sports Association http://www.loxwoodsports.org.uk/ The Pavillion Recreation Ground, Plaistow Road Loxwood West Sussex RH14 0SX http://http://maps.google.co.uk/maps...&t=h&z=17&om=1 Friday night will be a set meal at the local pub, Saturday lunchtime a canal boat trip and then Saturday evening the BBQ. More details to follow, but it will be bigger than last year, with invites extended to the following clubs: Surreyscoobies (obviously) SES Hampshire Subaru Sussexscoobies Kentscoobies Street:Modified There will be FOUR types of tickets available, Paid members whole weekend, Paid members Saturday BBQ, Full price whole weekend and Full price Saturday BBQ. Final pricing to be sorted in the new year, but likely to be: Full weekend Paid Members £25.00 Full Weekend Normal Price £29.00 Saturday BBQ Paid Members £10.00 Saturday BBQ Normal Price £12.00 Hopefully it will be a good turnout, 2008 we managed 80 people. I'll be disappointed if we don't hit 200 this year! Pub menu T.B.A. but will be a 3 course set meal. BBQ menu will be similar to last year: Butterflied Legs of Lamb BBQ Pork (maybe a hog roast if we get a big enough turnout) Spatchcocked Chickens Butchers Own Beef Burgers Butchers Own Pork Sausages Home Made Potato Salad Hot New Potatoes with Cherry Tomatoes, Rosemary, Garlic and Cayenne Pepper Salad French Sticks, Burger and Hotdog buns, Pitta Bread. Looks like I was wrong... the numbers for Friday are building quickly...
The pub has now been booked. The Landlady has confirmed that they are happy to accomodate 40 to 50 people, so ticket numbers will be limited accordingly, priority being given to those that have already put their name on the list over on Surreyscoobies http://www.surreyscoobies.co.uk/forums/ ... hp?t=27995 The Friday night menu should be finalised at the beginning of March. If you are not fortunate enough to obtain a full weekend ticket, that will not preclude you from arriving Friday night for the camping, all we will ask for is a donation for the camping fees (tba) It is anticipated that ticket sales will commence on 1st of May. |

Friday night "Pub Slots" are filling up quickly.... Already provisionally booked over half the available slots... (not bad for February!)

The short list is: Starter Nachos or Chilli, sweetcorn and red pepper soup (medium heat, not blow your head off... you can add tobasco for that) Main Course Pollo Verde (Chicken in a green coriander and chilli sauce) plus side dishes or Louisiana Chicken plus side dishes Dessert Lemon zesta ice cream cheesecake or Lime zesta ice cream cheesecake |

Folks, this is NEXT MONTH.
Unless we get a bigger uptake on tickets in the next two weeks, we may have to cancel the event! The current 16 tickets sold are no where near enough. |

Quick update.
There are 6 weeks to go to this event. This time last year, we'd sold 40 tickets, this year 16. Unless we get a higher take up over the next two weeks, we will have to consider cancelling the event and refunding those that have paid. Tickets will be available at the Surrey meet on Sunday, so bring your wallets! |
