exhaust bung question

OK dont shout at me for asking a silly question.

I have a 3" exhaust with a 4.5" tail pipe.I have just put a bung in,that has now reduced it down to about 1.5".Have now made the rest of the exhaust useless as the air is fairly free flowing until it reaches the bung.
So by this thinking would I be better off just getting a standard exhaust.
A few people i have spoken to seem to keep their bungs in most of the time.

Just to add the bung has only really been added to reduce the noise.Neighbours not to happy when i leave at 6:30:-|

the larger bore exhaust up to the restrictive bung should in theory allow your turbo to spool up quicker than with a smaller bore system due to the larger bore system having a greater volume.
In practice tho, ive not tested that so its just a theory atm

isnt it funny if you won the lottery,or tom cruize moved in next door, with a ferrari and a lambo, they would be made up!!!!!!!

What back box are you running? Because other than the likes of a NUR spec, there is not a lot that people can really moan about. Like Simon said, if it is within legal limits, bugger them!

Either that or you could try pulling away slowly in second gear, just until you are out of range.

Or..... even better..... invite Anger round, they will then know what a noisy one sounds like and actually appreciate yours. :ok:

Just for comparison, I have a Kakimoto, 3inch, full de-cat full exhaust. This passes the regs at brands with ease.

Also, having the headers done quietened mine down massively and gave me more beans.

My scooby was much louder on it's 2.5inch with Sports cat and Afterburner!
