Coilovers - Hawkeye
 

Hi,

Toying with the idea of getting some coilovers for my Hawkeye. I use it primarily for day to day driving, but also sprinting so not looking for an out and out race setup just something that will improve handling from where it is now.

I understand there can be an issue with access to the rear to make adjustments so I would need something where changes can be made relatively easily. I have had a quick look at both Tein and BC but can anyone recommend some other avenues worth looking into?

I am looking at around the £700 mark assuming there is a suitable option around that area.

I bought a second hand set of Cusco Zero 2's at Jap Performance 2 years ago. I have found them absolutely brilliant. I have them set midway for everyday driving, which is about as stiff as standard STi Springs, maybe a tiny touch stiffer at worst. A quick wind up on the dial on the top of the legs to 4 or 5 and you are ready to hit the track.

Although last year at Brands I didn't even bother winding them up and left them as per my usual setting and they drove really well.

I would say they are well worth a look :nod:

I got my AST's for £600 2nd hand...they are awesome but expensive new:?

For that money I would advise getting a good quality set 2nd hand i.e AST. But you may also need to budget getting them rebuilt as motorsport derived versions are not built to drive day in day out for the life of the car.

Don't go cheap new as you can run into many issues.

Thanks guys. £700 was mostly a number I plucked out the air of what would be nice to pay. Looks like I will need to put a bit more aside if I go down this route.

I know when I was looking alot said for road use and a few track days, good springs, arb's and a good geo setup was a good compromise. Its worked for me, just an idea.

Geo is a definite must and I should have that done by the end of the month. Coilovers are still very much at the idea stage at the moment. Already have uprated springs I believe so will take a look at an arbiter as well.

Im running a set of bc's on my classic, havnt had any problems

Yet! You have only had them 5mins. Look how many are being returned sumo scooby dude. :boom:

My BC's are absolutely fine have been from day 1. Not sure what issues people are having with them.
