car seems to have a flat spot

As above,the car hesitates in 1st,2nd, and 3rd at 2400rpm and at 3300 in 4th and 5th.
I am guessing its the MAF(by reading other posts and as said pure guess work).I take the MAF is in the square thing with a purple sticker on it,by the air filter?

Like i said i am guessing,so any ideas would be helpful

many thanks Jason:sos::sos::sos:

Just had my MAF replaced as it turns out it was on way out then finally gave up with CEL warning....
Car felt like it was constantly hesitating, retarding and adjusting as boost came in.
Found it noticeable even at low RPM when engine cold. Got better as everything warmed up but still felt it on boost.
No error messages until MAF gave up really confused me.
Good luck with sorting issue
Cheers :yeah:

Just to add ,can you clean the maf and if i buy one do i have to get a purple one(same as mine) or can you use the other ones with different colour stickers???

Anyone?

have you done a diagnostic, this will certainly help point you in the right direction

whilst is sounds MAF related it may well be an air leak, etc

Sorry for all the questions but does anybody know would it be ok to drive(local)
or will I do damage

scooby999 22-06-2012 09:45 AM

ok tried this morning to see if i could get a fault code.
done it as per jolly green monster website, dont know if it worked.connected connecters together done the accelerater thingy but when started the engine up the check light doesnt flash so i am guessing there is no faults showing(or i am doing something wrong)

i am going to buy some cleaner and see if that helps.if not there is a maf on ebay for £45 is that a reasonible price???
cheers jason

you only switch the ignition on to check for codes.................

wih the 2x black single connectors connected together the CEL light should flash, if its a constant rythym then no fault is stored

What fuel you using ?

scooby999 22-06-2012 09:32 PM

Tesco 99
And as for the checking I think I must be doing it wrong

scooby999 23-06-2012 12:22 PM

Right checked the fault codes this morning, and its 3long 2short,which is the oxygen sensor.
Any ideas on where it is and can it be cleaned or is it replace only

Cheers jason
