Ipad help

OK, so took the plunge and bought an ipad 3 two weeks ago. Got it home and started to play. Dropped a load of digital copies [movies] onto the thing and downloaded a movie from itunes. No problems.

Came back from work last week and drop another digital copy onto the pad, anyway here's where the trouble begins. I get the message:

"itunes could not copy <<the file name of the movie>> to the ipad as the file could not be written" or something similar to that.

Have de-authorised and re-authorised the computer, removed and re-installed itunes, been on the apple support website. Still can't find an answer to the grief.

Anyone help?

Oh when ever I try and sync it says 1 of 28 to sync, always, doesn't matter what the film.

Cheers

Roo :(

How much room have you got left on the iPad?

I know apple are a bit funny about digital versions of films?

I had about 8GB left when I wanted to upload a 1.2GB file.

I've now read the full instructions for removal of Itunes and currently reinstalling.

I think it has something to do with the mobile device support as I can't do jack with the iphones that I've got.

Nope that didnt work.

iTunes simply doesn't like the file. Remember iTunes is fussy about file format & quality, and will try to manage all the file comings and goings on the device.

If you can get the file onto the iPad by bypassing iTunes (there are apps to transfer wirelessly from a laptop over to iPad but avoiding iTunes) I'd bet the file still opens in something like VLC Player.

I would find it odd that having just paid and downloaded a movie that it wouldn't sync to the ipad.

As I mentioned I have happily transferred the movies. Started having this trouble, removed the movies from the ipad and tried reloading only to get the message.

I am now restoring the ipad.............:(

Oh I have Handbrake and VLC Streamer but don't really want to sync a 5 gig movie. Reckon it may take some time.

cant see where you've mentioned WHAT file format is for the ones giving you trouble? .mp4 .avi etc

Scooby Roo 29-07-2012 11:29 AM

all mp4's so I really am stumped. My work phone now connects and transfers [music] after all the reinstallation.

There's nothing that would prevent the passage of data via usb. Can't think of anything....

So I've done a restore and it's still goosed.

I can sync wirelessly but that's not really the solution so I reckon the connector has busted.

Going to the Apple shop today........
