how can you tell you have a closed deck block when its sat in the engine bay??

Block will have hatchlings in the castings

only very early Impreza's (93-96) or the original Legacy Turbo cars had these as factory std, and then not all...........

Look by the crank sensor John, as said should have cross hatching casting marks around that area :)
