BOV/Dump valve worth doing?

Morning guys and girls hope everyone had a good weekend.

As title states wondering if it is worth getting a bov as I'm still a big kid at heart and love that noise coupled with the burble of the flat 4, however if there is no actual advantage to having one then I won't bother and as I'm still new to the turbo scene I was hoping for some guidance from you guys.

Many thanks Adam.

No real advantage to a standard car mate. Designed to run recirc anyway.

Fair enough mate thank you for the reply, I'm sure that question has been asked many times but didn't have time to go through trying to find it.

I fitted one ages back and it made the car run like a shed mate.. proberbly best avoid unless adding other mods aswell..

Ive got a GFB one on mine, can be recirc or blowoff. Love the sound, and have had no issues with it. :ok:

I was looking at a Turbosmart dual port, has anyone had any experience with one of these? Also with any kind of BOV would the car need a re-map to run smoothly or should it be a 'plug and play' item?

Lots of negative experiences with them on the forums, however I ran an APS dual port for years without a remap and it was fine, however the APS doesn't vta unless at full boost and even then it was only a very small vent. The vta became much greater once on a stage 1 and mapped to 275.

Remember that the MAF measures the air coming into the engine at the air box so any 'dumping' of air after this will affect the mixture causing the engine to run rich for the period where the air is less than metered, this is not normally as bad as lean running but can cause problems. Most cases of poor running however (especially at idle) are due to poor quality valves that leak, any good valve should be closed at idle therefore no difference in running.

I now run a Forge VTA valve however I am MAFless so the mixture is not affected, I will be switching to D/V less soon as the constant flutter/whooshing is getting annoying!

Bought myself the turbo smart dual port, looking forward to seeing how it performs/sounds.
