FMIC on a Hawkeye

I'm toying with the idea of switching to a front mount and I'm interested in exactly what needs to be done and to try and work out potential cost etc. before jumping in.

Obviously there is the cost of a suitable front mount kit, probably some fitting costs as I'm mechanically inept. But are there additional parts/jobs that must be done as part of the change to FMIC?

Thanks in advance!

Price for a re map in to your budget. Speak to Jaffa about fitting it. He's done loads now :yeah:

Unless you running or intending on running forged internals at some point - Personally I wouldn't bother.

Hawk STI's are good for, but pretty much maxed at about 350bhp/380fltb, which the OEM top mount can cope with. Beyond this the Engine Internals are on borrowed time, and the turbo and injector are running out of headroom even if if the engine could take it.

Plus a front mount will introduce a little more lag. And laggless is one of the great things about the 2.5 hawk.

Good to know, thanks. I'm running 338bhp/360ftlbs at the moment. Looks like if I want to get much higher it's going to start getting v expensive.

You can get to 450 on a top mount anyway so unless you're tracking it you'll be fine.

I guess that is with uprated internals like Rob says?

I think a FMIC will help your sprint times Ross, if the car is pulling timing due to high ambients queing for the starts. Have you datalogged any of your previous sprints? If so was there any correction?

Not logged anything at a sprint, that's just a bit of fun really. Running 1b tyres would probably be my quickest route, or shedding a bit of weight (the car not me)

Just looking into various options to squeeze a bit more power out for the sake of it really. Will need to come up with a better reason than though should my other half get wind of it.

That's the std power of the type 25s which are full Cosworth builds but on TMIC

I had 370 on mine on a top mount on std WRX internals (for a short time!).

Indeed, very good intercoolers as standard.

TMIC can be cooled easily enough to bring down heatsoak (simply spray with water or meth). FMIC will result in a slight drop in throttle response.

I ran 410HP at MSA sprints this year, I do not use and would not suggest a TMIC over a FMIC for my particular application.
