another shell gone

Peacehaven :sadno:. Leaves us with texeco or asda. If I still had the scoob I would have to go into the centre of brighton just to get fuel now. Will have to get a new one mapped for asda:lol:

Peacehaven is being taken over but they wouldn't tell me who by!

I couldn't even get Super when I was heading to my Mums on Saturday, local Esso was shut, Sainsburys had the tanker doing a delivery as did the BP and then the Total garage along the Ridge don't even do Super, if I was heading along the coast I'd have been stuffed as the Garage in Rye has shut down and the 2 at Brenzett on the Ashford road are currently being refurbished at the same time.

Haha I've had 6 open in the last year within 30 minutes of me ... Two within 5 minutes drive :D

Used to use Peacehaven all the time, but switched to Tesco when I retired and didn't have to drive to Brighton every day. No problems with their SUL.
Customer service at Peacehaven was bad - they did nothing to earn any customer loyalty.

Shell now running the petrol station at shoreham airport.

Well if you will get anal and always want 98/99.
If the manufacturer say's it can run on 97 then any old super will do.
when you get it mapped just make sure you have a good brand super i.e Esso.

The only time you 'MAY' notice the difference between SUL and 98/99 is on a dyno. any other feeling is just placeebo [s].

If the car is running full available/mapped timing advance on 97 then you will have no benefit running 98/99 as the ECU cannot give you any more timing advance.

If your ECU does not have closed loop knock control then the timing run will be the timing mapped regardless as to wheter you put 99, 97, 95 or cooking oil in it. although it will obviously run better without cooking oil in it.

My policy is, if I'm passing a Shell or Tesco 99 and it needs fuel I'll stop. Otherwise it gets whatever SUL I'm passing when the needle approaches 'E'.

I'm monitoring Knock all the time on mine and see no difference between any SUL or 98/99 brand.
If the timing were too close to the danger zone and gave the odd sparkle, I would suggest it's poorly mapped rather then an issue, due to your fuel choice.

Or you just mapped yours on the very safe side

335 horses and 310 torques on a UK and vf28 indicate good results from a little turbo. Not many vf28 out there running more.

Besides shouldn't all customer cars be mapped towards the safe side rather then if you put Sul in it'll det itself into a short life.

Cheers Scott. Very interesting. I will have no choice anyway when I get one. Texeco do a super and sainsburys are in Newhaven so it will have to be one of those.

rossmarts 07-12-2012 01:43 PM

Shell in T Wells is also in a state of shutdown. I'm hoping it's just a refurb, but means I'll need to go further afield for fuel if it has gone for good.

looks like sainsburys for me also then that will save a few quid and time driving up to peacehaven then and bumping into fellow scooby drivers like Mr Luck

harvey05 07-12-2012 05:59 PM

its a bp now in peacehaven

SpecB 07-12-2012 06:06 PM

I've switched to Tesco Momentum after reading a very good article on the fuels by a BMW tuner nothing in it between V Power and Momentum and on all honesty the car 'feels' better on Tescos
