Most of the drivers in all the National rallycross series are on relatively low budgets, its only a handful of drivers from each country that have the budget to afford to run a full ERC season.
Having said that there does seem to be more sponsorship available for national series drivers in some European countries (particularly those in the Scandinavian region), though I do think things are getting better in the UK. There have been more big name sponsors crop up at UK events in the last couple of years than in most of the years I've been watching rallycross. I daresay not as many as there were back in the 90's, but certainly more than there were 5 years ago.
I hope the trend continues and we see more UK drivers getting enough backing to run newer cars, and hopefully make the jump to Europe.
