I have a GFB Response which can be set to be full VTA, full recirculating or anywhere in between... I found that my car ran badly on full VTA, and so I have it set to somewhere near 60/40 recirc to VTA. That way I still get the woosh without the problems When I get fed up with the noise or fancy a change, just open the bonnet and twist the adjuster by hand and it goes full recirc. Great piece of kit.

Oh and they do nothing except make noise, unless you are running higher boost than the OE valve can cope with...
