Struggling to get struts out and in, But have finally got the old ones out with allot of swearing, but I can't get the wishbone to push down far enough or the strut to push up far enough for the bolt holes to line up, That's even when I have used spring compressors. My spring compressors seem to just get in the way of things which don't help. Feels like I need 3 pairs of hands, and like I am doing something silly. Can't recall it ever being so difficult.

Probably because you are fighting the ARB.
Try adjusting the height the car is jacked, as this can normally help with alignment.
Oh and a big screwdriver and a grunting Big'E' may assist too
