You won't need to Hammerite it if you get the mesh from Halfords.
If you opt for it get the (10mm) as we calculated the airflow/protection will be better with 10mm rather than the 6,8 and 12 they offer.
I've had mine on for several years up behind cars at silly speeds, tracking etc and it still remains unmarked.
I will knock you up an image later and fire it in this post.
I think it blends well as it compliments the "balckness" of inside the scoop.
