Thank all, and thanks Ian for offer of help. But had a fresh start with a fresh head, and very quickly come to the conclusion, I needed to undo the bottom drop link bolts to gain enough drop movement on the hub, once I done this no problems at all and didn't even need spring compressors. It also gave the oppertuntity to line up the roll bar better which has solved the drop link problem.
Rear shocks were fiddly and had to take out back seat to get to strut top bolts, and once again undo bottom drop link bolt to get enough movement. Had to move one of the top mounts oas one of my replacements was in the wrong position.
Basically a full days graft, which I could probably do in half the time if I were to do it again. But very pleased with the results and car sits nice and squat and ride is much stiffer with the car now sitting very flat in the corners with handling miles better. Well worth the effort.
Essential tools are a good breaker bar, quality 19mm sockets, hammer, couple of jacks, and my dremmel made light work of cutting the brakeline carrier.
