It all comes down to money at the end of the day mate.
The water companies can easilly pump water to each other even from all the way up in scottland if they wanted to its just not cost effective at all.
As for sea water, again its easilly possible and the equipment is all ready there, its just hugily expensive so the companies dont do it. Even if they were to build more de salentisation plants i doubt people would want them on their doorstep plus the huge increase on water bills.
