What I don't understand is why they can't build the infrastructure to share supplies as they do in other European countries.

This is where the lack of infrastructure investment really shows. The water that we have had recently obviously can't all drain down into the boreholes, it just couldn't get through the earth and layers quick enough and will drain off. But why don't water companies invest in finding a way of pumping directly into them? Surely there must be a way? To watch peoples houses in this area being pumped out and the local rivers being on flood alert in June and then to be told, "sorry, you still can't use a hose, there's not enough water" really is unbelievable in this day and age.
The fact we have reservoirs overflowing and leaking locally too is simply mind blowing, yet the likes of you and I can't use a Karcher?
Please don't take any of this personally mate, you know none of its aimed in your direction  , but the water companies really shouldn't be able to fob us off like this.
