Taking things to the extreme its a bit like comparing
Say a honda civic type r and a VW 1.9 170bhp pd TDI.
To get any kind of real pace our of the civic type R you have to drive it like you stole it, dropping a couple of gears, ragging the **** of it, making loads of noise, and looking rather like a tit and boy racer in the process.
Where as the audi TDI will be up the civics chuff, and pulling away from the civic out of corners without drawing too much attention to yourself or looking like a boy racer who only knows 2 positions on the throttle.
On the road I would prefer torque, and on track I would prefer the power band all at the top end.
Horses for courses and perhaps I'm just getting older/more boring/sensible.
