I'll leave others with more classic/wagon knowledge to make recommendations.

Changing pads however (barring any unforeseen surprises) is pretty straightforward. I'm someone who is frequently referred to as 'mechanically inept' and simply provides tea when there is work to be done on a car. That said, I changed a set in under an hour with a completely inappropriate set of tools and little/no knowledge. My only words of wisdom would be 'copper slip'.
