I had the same dilemma/concerns as you. But there are tons of people (mainly in the US) fitting them to BRZ/GT86/Scion FR-S, and they've been on cars for up to two years now with no issues. I took the plunge and fitted hubcentric Eibachs, which are very good quality. I would not buy off Ebay! They need a little more maintenance, as you need to routinely torque the spacer nuts as well as the wheel nuts (unless you have longer studs). 10mm have longer studs, 15mm and above have additional nuts in the spacer.

It's a cheap upgrade to get a better stance if you don't want to fit wider wheels. I have no issues with mine.
