Default BTCC R10 2014 - Brands Hatch

The BTCC is always worth a look, and with the Championship finale just down the road at Brands Hatch, there was no way I was going to miss it.

As ever I packed my camera, so here are a few photos…

Given the racing was on the GP circuit we thought we’d make the most of it, so we completely avoided the main straight.

Paddock Hill Bend and Druids are the best spots for drama, but I personally prefer watching out in the woods. No annoying PA, no high fences and, most importantly, the cars sound far better when they are flat out through the trees.

I don’t know if they have remodelled Westfield Bend (or maybe I just forgot), but I can’t recall cars cutting this corner so heavily in the past.

Given a lot of drivers were putting two wheels completely over the curb, they were getting air on the exit of the turn as their wheels passed back over the curb again.

Wheels in the air: always good to see!

The day started off with sunshine, but that didn’t last long…

…by the time the Porsches rolled out for the penultimate race of the day, it was overcast and drizzling…

…the drizzle then turned to pissing rain for the final Touring Car race of the day. Still, no complaints from me, as the racing looked properly cool in the rain and the dark (plus we found a massive tree to shelter under).

As ever the BTCC delivered a great day of racing. Was good to see Shedden close off a troubled year with a win: and Plato finally get punished for driving like an arse!
