Sounds like an air lock in the system. From cold (top coolent if needed) run the engine up with heater on full heat with cap off hold revs up a little 2 - 2.5k. While doing this keep eye on coolent level top up if it drops. When heater blowing nice and hot check coolent level ok put cab back on and take on little drive make sure heater stays hot. Then let car cool down and recheck coolent (may need topping up)
