Ask who ever built your engine firstly. Was it built with new forged internals?
5w30 its too watery on any subaru engine that's been rebuilt in my opinion,
I run 15w50 Motul in a standard engine but it gets ALOT of abuse, I would run 10w40 as a minimum, but if you intend some light track work or even if clearances are not super tight and you have a little piston slap when cold then 10w50 (Obviously a good quality synthetic one and it doesn't need to cost the earth)
