There are definitely some in the UK. I think they proved popular in Australia... would make sense given the popularity of Utes. That could be urban myth though, I've never actually looked into it.
I really like them. Something a bit different... never heard anyone pronounce it "badger", but maybe that should stick. I think it's meant to be "ba-ha". I base that solely on a conversation with a chap who seemed to know a lot about them, so again, could be entirely wrong.
